Julian Yabut

President & Founding Fellow


Julian is pursuing his PhD in Medical Sciences at McMaster University, studying the molecular mechanisms that underly metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. Outside of research, Julian is a sessional instructor in the BHSc Program and a Canfitpro-certified personal trainer with 1000+ hours of experience at McMaster. His overarching aim is to spread pro-bono consulting to the greater Hamilton area. Julian enjoys playing softball and previously represented Canada in the Dragonboat World Championships in 2015.

Robert Ungard

Founding Fellow


Robert is a PhD Candidate in Medical Sciences at McMaster University. He researches the mechanisms of pain – specifically: how does bone cancer pain become so severe, and can it be reduced by therapies that target the tumour and its surrounding microenvironment. Robert has worked in varied academic and business settings, and has a passion for applying his multidisciplinary skillset to distilling information and solving difficult challenges.

Ksenia Bezverbnaya

Founding Fellow


Pedrum is a PhD candidate in Medical Sciences at McMaster University. His research focuses on applying bioinformatics and genomics to identify markers for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Pedrum is also passionate about knowledge translation, and he has advised several healthcare startups in Hamilton, bringing innovative products to market. Outside of his academic interests, Pedrum is an avid basketball player.
